"Enos Race, father of Maggie
Race. was a native of Kentucky. He came to Texas in 1872, locating in Johnson
County, first. He farmed therethere for three years and then moved to Tarrant County
(he died in 1882). He was a highly respected man and farmer between Everman and Ft.
Worth. He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge at Deer Creek, which later met
at Everman. "He married Marian Thompson (first marriage), at Lexington, Ky. Their children were: (1) Willian A. Race (who married Catherine Hibbard); (2) Rush; (3) Henry; (4) West and (5) Maggie (who married Jeff Gosney). "William A. Race and Hibbard's children: (1) Enos (2) Luna; (3) Charlie: (4) William Martin;, (5 ) Con; (6) Ray; (7) Bob (Dec. 1908) "To Jeff Gosney and Maggie Race were born: (1) Rosa L.; (2) Oscar; (3) Enos; (4) Clarence; (5) Russel S.; (6) Cora E.: (7) Matt and (8) Henry."* "His second marriage was to Jane Hawkins. The children of that marriage was: (1) Freddie; (2) Seymore; (3) Albert (who married Arabell Tutson) and (4) Charlie Race (b. 1885, d. 4/30/16). The picture just to the left belongs to William H. Martin of Ohio. He found this picture in an album that belonged to his grand mother, who is deceased. There was no name written on the back of it, but he was able identify who was in the picture from the old Tarrant County picture of John Enos Race, Sr. (near the top of this page). |
